Get to know me

Hi, I’m Marie. For the last 5 years, I have studied pluralistic counselling, with the intention to specialise in perinatal and parenthood counselling. For the past year I have done my placement with the parent centre First Step in Musselburgh, where I am still volunteering.

Why this specialisation? Pregnancy, child birth and parenthood are such transformational moments in life and I truly believe that the support received by the community at those pivotal moments can have a positive lasting effect on both the parent and the child.

As mentioned before, my practice is pluralistic, with a foundation of person centred. This means that your counselling journey is always tailored to you and your specific needs.

Before counselling, I studied law and psychology. Those subjects gave me a great respect for the importance of the words spoken and the complexity of the human experience. I have also worked as a childminder, specialising in babies and toddlers, and support workers for people with disabilities.

I am currently a member of the National Counselling and Psychotherapy Society.
